Ways to Get Active

There are so many ways to reach your target of 150 minutes of physical activity per week in Wiltshire. On these pages, we've put together some ideas to get you started!


Get Active in your Community

Good Gym logo

If you like the idea of getting active and helping the community, take a look at Good Gym! Good Gym are a group who come together to run, walk, or cycle to help out community projects for older people in Swindon.

Park Yoga Logo

If you'd like to experience yoga for the first time, try a new class or just enjoy practicing in natural surroundings then Park Yoga is for you! Sessions run every Sunday morning throughout the summer months in Salisbury, Swindon, and Devizes, with more venues coming in 2022!

Parkrun logo

Parkrun organise weekly 5km timed runs which are open to everyone, free, and safe and easy to take part in. There are 7 Parkruns, and 4 Junior Parkruns within Wiltshire and Swindon.

Looking for ways to cycle solo or in a group? Connecting Wiltshire's list of local cycling groups and clubs is a great place to start! They also offer cycling routes to download on their website, as well as advice for the best places to go if you're into mountain biking, or just want a leisurely ride.

Get Active at Home

According to Sport England research, the majority of physically active adults in England managed to maintain their habits despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic. However, the pandemic and associated restrictions have had a significant impact on the way we engage in physical activity, with many of us choosing to get active from our own homes.

During this time, WASP worked with local partners to produce activity videos you can do at home, and put together a range of resources to inspire you to stay in and work out.

Despite the majority of outdoor and indoor leisure facilities re-opening, we understand that you may still like to exercise at home. Find videos and resources to support you to do so on the page below.
