WASP are committed to promoting safeguarding and protecting children, young people and any vulnerable adults who are involved in sport, and consider it in everything we do. WASP works with the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit, the Ann Craft Trust, National Governing Bodies of Sport, UK Coaching and other organisations to support you in developing and promoting best practice and responding to concerns.
WASP also works within the Local Safeguarding Children Board's guidance. For more information on this visit the Safeguarding Vulnerable Peoples Partnership for Wiltshire, and for Swindon the Swindon Safeguarding Partnership.
WASP has achieved the advanced level of the Standards for Safeguarding and Protecting Children in Sport and is currently maintaining and embedding these standards by adopting the national safeguarding framework
WASP has recently achieved the Ann Craft Trust Safeguarding Adults in Sport Framework meaning that WASP is meeting the essential requirements of all the framework criteria.
- If you are a club or sports organisation, and need help in creating your own Safeguarding Policy or good practice guidance we can provide support in developing these.
- If you are a coach we can provide information on and access to the right safeguarding course for you.
- If you are a young person or parent with a concern we can provide information on what steps to take to report these.
Equality and Diversity
We have signed up for the Wiltshire Centre for Independent Living Campaign Make Someone Welcome.
This Campaign aims to get people from all walks of life connected in our community. We here at WASP have made a pledge to create a kind environment which provides a supportive and welcoming place for those with a mental illness or a disability.
Perhaps your organisation/group would be interesed in joining 150+ others by signing up too? There is a useful Toolkit available with plenty of ideas to get you started and any group big or small can sign up.
