Love to Move: Seated Exercises from British Gymnastics
The British Gymnastics Foundation have made their seated activity programme, Love to Move, available online. This programme is designed to get older people moving and functioning better and consists of videos and a downloadable booklet.
The programme integrates the use of gymnastic foundation skills, cognitive stimulation therapy and social interaction activities. The majority of the programme is based on bilaterally asymmetrical movement patterns, essentially working the left and right sides of the brain separately, which benefits older people and those living with dementia and mild cognitive impairment.
10 Today is a programme of short 10 minute routines to get you stretching and moving within your own homes. They are led by an instructor and are simple, easy to follow, and fun!
You can watch videos of the routines via the 10 Today website, or tune in and listen to them via the radio.
