Live Well, Move More - Diabetes UK
Diabetes UK and Sport England have recently partnered to help people living with diabetes who are currently inactive, become more active. They have created a number of services and resources including:
- Free Get Moving 10 week online courses – participants try a different, gentle activity each week, form chair-based yoga to Tai Chi and movement to music, and each week is followed by a short education session and Q&A about diabetes. Punjabi and Urdu translation is available, as well as fully chair-based courses and ladies only courses.
- Physical Activity Helpline – we are able to offer ongoing support and motivation, as well as practical advice, to people who are struggling to start moving more. Our advisors are trained in counselling, motivational interviewing and behaviour change techniques and can work with someone over a 3 month period to help them to become more active.
- Exercise hub -A growing resources of information, videos, illustrations and real-life stories.
