FUEL Programme Grant Funding

Wiltshire Council has been given Department of Education funding to deliver the Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme to children eligible for benefits related free school meals in Wiltshire. The programme is being delivered in Wiltshire using the brand FUEL.Girl playing with tire for movement training in kindergarden

A grant fund has been developed to support existing providers to deliver HAF related provision in Wiltshire and to expand the reach and capacity of the programme. This will help to ensure that as many eligible children benefit as possible.

There are two types of FUEL grants available:

  • Pot A: Grant to deliver stand-alone Holiday Activity and Food appropriate provision specifically for children and young people who are eligible for benefits related free school meals (max £10,000).
  • Pot B: Grant to extend existing provision, which meets the requirements of the Holiday Activity and Food programme, to provide places specifically for children and young people who are eligible for benefits related free school meals (max £2,000).

The funding is only available to organisations operating in Wiltshire.

Successful applicants will need to ensure their provision includes a range of fun and enriching activities that provide children with opportunities to develop new skills or knowledge, to consolidate existing skills and knowledge, or to try out new experiences. This could include physical activities such as football, table tennis, cricket; creative activities such as putting on a play, junk modelling, drumming workshops; or experiences such as a nature walk, visiting a city farm.

Please note that provision must include the delivery of daily physical activity, which will enable participants to meet the Physical Activity Guidelines.

Applicant organisations will not need to provide food for participants and instead this will be sourced by Wiltshire Council and delivered to delivery venues on each day of the programme. Due to this applicant organisations are required to plan their provision to take place for four weeks from the week commencing 2 August 2021. Provision should run for four weeks, with each week comprising of four days (Monday – Thursday), for a minimum of four hours a day.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Thursday 3 June 2021. This tight timescale is to ensure that successful applicants have the appropriate time to plan, promote and deliver their FUEL programme.

Complete your application here.
