About Netball

NetballA team sport played between two teams of 7 players, Netball derived from earlier forms of basketball and was recognised is a distinct sport from roughly the 1890's in England. Predominantly played by women, but enjoyed by both genders alike, the sport is popular across many Commonwealth countries. The aim of the game is to score goals in the opposing team's raised ring, or net, by passing the ball up the court.

Netball games are divided into 15 minute long quarters, and the team with the most goals wins. The court is divided into thirds, and players are assigned positions that restrict their movement to certain areas on the court. A player can only take one step with the ball before passing it, and must pass it or shoot for goal within 3 seconds. Goals can only be scored by assigned players.

Netball is a great way to get fit and meet new people and can be played by males and females of any age.

The National Governing Body for Netball is England Netball.
