  • FA England Talent Day for Disability Football - 30 March 2017

    football 023Wiltshire County FA are delivering an FA England Talent Day as part of the FA’s Talent Identification Programme (TIP) to support the development of young football players with a disability.  The England Talent Day will enable FA TIP staff to suitably identify and signpost players into the ‘right’ environment at that point in time.  For some players this will lead onto a 6 week assessment and signposting period.

    This opportunity is for players aged 12-16 with a disability.  The aim is to identify suitable playing opportunities from grassroots clubs to FA England Development Squads.

  • Rugby League South West Universities Demolish South East!

    3 Brad Kislingbury on the chargeIn the end the South West secured an easy win over the South East 52 - 16, including no less than 14 players from the University of Gloucestershire after a comfortable half-time lead 30 - 6. The South West didn't have it all their own way after Craig Winfield went over for a try early on, converted by Joe Glover by the South East.  It was a tight opening quarter but second row Connor Jones managed to find a gap out wide, converted by half back Ben Stead.  Connor Jones almost got a second try after a good break by loose forward Danny Fallon but was taken out with a last ditch tackle a few metres from the line.

    Mara Yamauchi, two-time Olympian and the UK's second-fastest female marathon runner of all time, will give a presentation on the marathon.  She will talk about all aspects of preparing for a marathon including training, race preparation, nutrition & hydration, rest & recovery and injury-prevention.  Since retiring in 2013, Mara has qualified as a coach and will also talk about her coaching experience.  There will be plenty of time for questions at the end of her talk.

    running 015The Wiltshire Athletics Association have confirmed the schedule for the 2017 Wiltshire Road Race League.  The league features 10 races with the best 8 scoring to count. This is a reduction of two which was agreed at the last WAA meeting to try to reduce fixture congestion and to maximise participation and engagement with the league.

    From exploring fantastic coastal scenery by sea kayak to performing the ultimate playboat moves while ‘playing’ and ‘shredding’ the river, Canoeing offers something for everyone young or old, and you don't just have to live by the sea or along a canal to get involved, canoe clubs can be found countrywide, even in big cities!

    The recognised National Governing Body for Canoeing in the UK is the British Canoe Union, and more information can be found on www.bcu.org.uk
